Sarah Jeynell Ellingburg Atkinson, 80, of the Caviness community, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at Brentwood Care & Rehabilitation Center. The daughter of Lawrence Ellingburg Jr. and Mattie Alice Bethany Ellingburg, she was born July 22, 1936 in Philadelphia, Mississippi.

She worked a number of years at the Loop Burger.

On June 28, 1974, she married John Lee Atkinson Jr. and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a step-daughter, Margaret, a sister, Annie Mae Nicholson and husband Miller, a brother, Deward “Dub” Ellingburg and a brother-in-law, Johnny Nicholson.

Survivors include her children Cordelia, Jean, Debra, Georgia “Gina”, Chris, Steve, Roy, Traci, Diane and Scottie, numerous grandchildren, several great grandchildren, two brothers, Grady Ellingburg and Buddy Ellingburg, a sister, Leora Nicholson along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Services are scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Thursday, January 19 at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Jerry Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to the Mt. Tabor Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 13, Sumner, Texas 75486.
