Don Thomas Cherry, age 87, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colby L. and Ethel (Schory) Cherry; brothers, Robert and Ted. Don is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jackie (Day); children, Carla (Dale) Bauer, Eric Cherry; grandchildren, Matthew (Erin) Bauer, Lisa Bauer, Sierra Cherry, Skylar Cherry and Storie Cherry; great-grandchildren, Boone Bauer and Reese Cherry. Don was a member of First Community Church, was recognized for his 50 years of Masonic affiliation, also held memberships in Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Shrine, Torch Club, American Society for Industrial Security and Construction Specification Institute, attended Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, TN, graduate of Ohio State University in 1953 and was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force where he served his country for 28 years as a career military officer and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017 at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd. Columbus, OH. 43212, where contributions in Don's memory may be made to Friends of Music or Heart to Heart Food Pantry. Private interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Johnstown, OH.
