IN LOVING MEMORY OF CHET MORGAN MARCH 26, 1932-JANUARY 8, 2017 FROM HIS WIFE SHIRLEY AND THEIR FAMILY Ted Williams from the Boston Red Sox once said, "By the time you know what to do, you're too old to do it." Chet Morgan wasn't one of these guys-he knew what he wanted to do right off the bat: While he excelled in academics in high school, baseball was his passion. He played professional baseball right out of high school and met his wife Shirley in the beginning of his career, while playing for a team in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Then, he jumped into teaching and coaching and as a young man, was named National Team Manager for the Italian Olympic Committee. His family spent many happy years in Italy. Later, as a local El Paso business man, he was thrilled to see AAA baseball and the Chihuahuas come to El Paso. Chet was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. As another baseball great, Yogi Berra, put it--and Chet, his friends and his family would agree, "love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good too."
