Frances Murphy Giles, 98, of Chatham, passed away on January 13, 2017 at her residence. She was born on January 22, 1918, in Pittsylvania County, daughter of John W. Murphy and Hettie Doss Murphy. She was married to the late Chesley "Jack" Lee Giles.
She was a member of Chatham Presbyterian Church. She retired from the Lane Furniture Company.
She is survived by a son, Vernon Giles; four daughters, Gail Giles, Patsy (Tom) Mason, Billie (Caroll) Dillard and Linda Carr; seven grandchildren; a brother, Frederick Murphy of Dry Fork
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Myrtle Thompson, Merkley Giles, Bertie Craddock and Connie Jefferson; brothers, George Murphy, and Percy Murphy.
Burial will be at Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
