Robert “Bob” Earl Wilkes of Princeton, Texas passed away January 6, 2017 at the age of 64.  He was born August 16, 1952 to James Robert Wilkes and Dorothy Joan (Bettison) in Port Arthur, Texas.  Bob grew up in Lone Star/Daingerfield and graduated from Daingerfield High School.    He proudly joined the United States Navy when he was twenty-one years of age.  Bob retired as a Chief E-7 Air Traffic Controller after twenty-four years of service.  He married Paula Marie Varney on March 16, 1985 in Kingsville, Texas. Bob was a lifetime member of the VFW.  He loved to fish and ride his Harley Davidson.
Bob is survived by his wife, Paula Wilkes of Princeton, Texas; son, Keith Wentworth of New Orleans; daughter, Carey Mischler (Aaron) also of New Orleans; sisters, Christine Williams (Ennice) of Dangerfield, Texas and Janice Reid (Jimmy) of Hughes Springs, Texas; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.  A private family inurnment will be held at DFW National Cemetery with Military Honors.
