Nadine Simmons, 94, of Erie, passed away at 6:40 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.

She was born on April 18, 1922 at rural Erie, Kansas to Fred and Elizabeth (Piatt) Clark. She grew up at rural Erie and attended Erie schools graduating from Erie High School in 1940.
She was a lifelong Erie resident and was a homemaker and worked at Locke Abstract before she was married.

She and Jesse Simmons were married on June 22, 1941 at Altamont. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2001.

Nadine enjoyed gardening, sewing, making quilts, canning, hummingbirds. She cherished her family and adored her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Erie.

She is survived by two sons, Phillip Simmons, and his wife, Marilyn of Warsaw, MO and Robert Simmons, and his wife, Lisa of Enid, OK’ two daughters; Patricia Starke, and her husband, Bruce of Bellevue, NE and Margie Miller, and her husband, Bruce of Erie; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Lyle Clark, Don Clark, and Jack Clark and three sisters, Ava Ferguson, Kathryn Clark, and Vera VanGorden.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 16, 2017 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Michael Haggard officiating. Burial will follow in the East Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie from 4 to 5 Sunday afternoon. Memorials are suggested to the Erie Christian Church or Prairie Mission Retirement Village and these may be left or mailed to the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home 113 N. Main St., P.O.
