In Taunton John "Jay" Field Sr. passed away at his home on December 28, 2016 from complications from Multiple System Atrophy with his loving family surrounding him. John was born in Taunton on September 1st 1942 to the late Harold and Bertha (Moore) Field. He attended Coyle High School class of 1960 where he was a standout athlete. He dedicated most of his life to youth sports being a coach and mentor. John was the owner and operator with his wife for J&L Landscaping in Taunton where they worked side by side for fifty years. He worked tirelessly to start a youth football program in the Taunton area and succeeded in 1976 being the founder of Taunton Pop Warner Football. His passion was not only to sports but first and foremost to his family. He was an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed listening to the game on his radio on 98.5. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty three years Louise (Berthelette) Field. They were soul mates and best friends. He was the father of John Field and his wife Deborah of PA, Jeffrey Field and his wife Lisa of Middleboro, Thad Field, Anne Aponte and her husband Albert of Taunton and the late Gary Field. Grandfather of Ashley Aponte, Erin, Sean, Brittney, Brian and Amanda Field. Great Grandfather of Kylie Field. Brother of Virginia Hamilton, William Field, Claire Meikle, Richard Field and the late Kathleen Lawler, Mary Nelson, Robert Field, Jean Mayo and Dorothy Pierce. His dog who adored him Precious. Calling hours will be held at the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home 70 Washington Street on Tuesday January 3rd from 8:30-10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St Andrew the Apostle Church In Taunton at 11 am.
