Emery Nole Gerbig, 97, formerly of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at his home in Coppell, TX. He was born September 3, 1919, to the late William and Edith Gerbig.

He was a charter member of Christian Fellowship Church. Emery loved the Lord and served as a mentor to young pastors all across the Midwest. He served his country during WWII for two tours of duty in the U.S. Army. He was discharged March 25, 1949, and was a lifetime member of the DAV. Emery retired from Sears. He enjoyed birdwatching and woodworking, especially making frames and tables. He collected antique tools and loved going to auctions in search of them.

Emery was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; son, Carroll Gerbig; brothers, Lawrence Gerbig, Kenneth Gerbig, Verlen Gerbig; and sisters, Gladys Jackson and Clyde Blackburn.

He is survived by daughter, Linda Gerbig; special granddaughter, Mary Charlotte Turner Gerbig, who came into his life later, but brought many blessings. Emery is also survived by a son, Phillip Massey, who has 3 children; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Alexander East Chapel officiated by Pastors Bob England and Bud Wells with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit 1:00 PM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
