He was the son of James and Alice Jennings.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years and his children; 19 grandchildren and one sister.
He was predeceased by his daughter Patricia; son Brian and grandson Timothy Miller.
He was a graduate of Chaminade High School (Class of '50) and the University of Notre Dame ('54). His love for the Fighting Irish was fierce and infectious. In addition, he graduated from New York University's Stern School of Business with an MBA.
He also served in the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Corps from 1954 until 1956.
He spent his entire career with The New York Telephone Company as district manager. He also served as water and fire commissioner for Manhasset Lakeville Water District, as well as volunteer fireman.
In addition, he devoted much of his spare time to public service, as a member of American Legion and Knights of Columbus, and a volunteer for United Way, Special Olympics, and until 2014 Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
He and his wife spent 47 years in Manhasset before retiring to his beloved Hedges Lake in Cambridge, where he had spent childhood summers.
He took great pleasure in golfing, tennis and running, having completed 12 Marathons; qualifying for Boston being the highlight.
Most important, he was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. He was kind, generous, patient, fun-loving, enthusiastic and full of life. He was a man who was truly loved and admired by all who knew him and he will be missed.
A mass was held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 249 North Main Street, Salem, NY with the Reverend Martin Fisher officiating, followed by an open house to celebrate his life at The Summit at Saratoga, 1 Perry Road, Saratoga Springs.
Funeral arrangements were with the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, Inc., 19 East Broadway, Salem.
