OBIT:
Mrs. Permelia C. Charlton, a resident of the Fairview District for 40 years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. E. Burke in Ellensburg about noon Wednesday. Mrs. Charlton had passed four score years of an active life and her death, a shock to her relatives and friends, was not unexpected.
Mrs. Charlton was born in Missouri, December 12, 1843. She made that state her home until she was nine years old when she crossed the plains by covered wagon to Oregon. In 1859 she married Charles A. Charlton and 40 years ago they came to the Kittitas Valley and established a home in the Fairview District. Here they prospered and made many friends, who regretted their departure from her in 1903, when they went to Colville to live. Mrs. Charlton lived there with a son until four years ago when she came to Ellensburg to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. J. E. Burke of Ellensburg.
Mrs. Charlton is survived by one son, William Charlton of Colville, four daughters, Mrs. E. J. Burrell of Idaho, Mrs. B. F. Smith of Livingston, Mont.; Mrs. O. R. Geddis of Sunnyside and Mrs. J. E. Burke of Ellensburg, a sister, Mrs. Sarah Cantrell of Jacksonville, Ore., also 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The deceased was a member of the Baptist Church, joining in 1877.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 o'clock at the residence of Mrs. J. E. Burke, the Rev. Bergen and Rev. Hylton in charge.
