Billy Jack "Bill" Priest, 51, of Lubbock and formerly of Abilene, died Monday, September 9, 1996 in an Abilene hospital. Services were held at the First Baptist Church and burial was in the Albany Cemetery.

Mr. Priest was born in Rector, Arkansas, and worked for the Department of Public Safety for 32 years in Houston, Del Rio, Big Springs and Abilene.
While Sargent and investigator in the DPS's motor vehicle theft service division, he was recognized by the U. S. Customs Service, FBI Academy, U.S. Attorney's Office, National Auto Theft Bureau and the Department of the Treasury. he was a guest lecturer at the Southwest Texas Junior College Police Academy and also taught classes on aircraft identification and salvage switch operations across the U. S. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
