Mr. Mattox was born in Elberton, Georgia to Milton Parks Mattox and Annie Ruth Gunter Mattox. He was the husband of Linda Johnson Mattox, having celebrated 16 years of marriage together. Mr. Mattox worked throughout his life in the granite industry, and was an employee at Quarries, Inc. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at the lake, camping, and gardening.
In addition to his wife, Linda Johnson Mattox, Mr. Mattox is survived by his mother, Annie Ruth Mattox; a daughter, Sarah Johnson; a son, Andrew Parks Mattox; two step-children, Angela Gunter and Brian Gunter; and five grandchildren: Ethan Johnson, Samantha Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Emily Gunter, and Logan Rhodes. He also leaves behind a sister, Martha Nell Hall; three brothers: Milton M. Mattox, Ray Mattox, and Morris Mattox; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mattox was preceded in death by his father, Milton Parks Mattox, and a brother, Wilbur Eugene Mattox.
