NORMAN ELWOOD WILLIAMS Norman Elwood Williams, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Yankee Hill, California on Saturday, January 7, 2017. Born in Yankee Hill on November 29, 1927, he was the 6th of 7 children born to Butte and Bessie Williams. Norman began driving logging trucks at the age of 14 and retired at age 72. He is known throughout the logging industry as a man who was willing to share his wealth of trucking knowledge to many young drivers. He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed. He was in the U.S. Army during WWII, an 11 year member of the American Legion, and a 54 year member of the Native Sons of the Golden West, Argonaut Parlor No. 8. Norman loved his family. He is survived by his wife Lesta of the home, son Larry Williams and wife Cindy of Redding, CA., son Gary Williams and wife Diana of Oroville, CA, daughter Sandra Pacino and husband Mike of Boys Ranch, Texas, son Floyd Williams and Charlotte Doherty of Oroville, CA, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to his favorite charity, Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174. A viewing of Norman will be held at the Scheer Memorial Chapel, 2410 Foothill Blvd, Oroville, CA on Friday, January 13 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life gathering date is still to be determined.
