Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in the funeral home. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.
Mr. Shelton was born in Silverton on Jan. 12, 1936, to Daniel and Bula Shelton. He was raised in Silverton and moved to Amarillo in 1972. Mr. Shelton served in the Army from 1956 to 1958. He worked as a meter inspector for Energas; retiring after 35 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Beverly J. Shelton in 2012.
Survivors include a son, Michael of Silver City, N.M.; a brother, Calvin Shelton of Silverton; and two sisters, Virginia Thornton of Tulia and Martha McJimsey of Tucson, Ariz.
