SF Attorney, Industialist Dies
OAKLAND (AP) Allen L. Chickering, Sr., 80, San Francisco attorney and industrialist, died yesterday. He suffered a stroke on Christmas Day at his home in Piedmont.
The head of the law firm of Chickering and Gregory, he had practiced law in San Francisco since 1901. He was a director of many big industrial and utility corporations, including Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co. and the Schmidt Ltihograph Co.
His wife, the former alma H. Sherman of Fresno, died last June.
Chickering is survived by two sons, Allen, Jr., of Woodside, Calif., and Sherman, of San Francisco, and a daughter, Mrs. Harold R. Edrman of Honolulu.
Another son, William chickering, lost his life during the Japanese occupation of the Philipines, while serving as a war correspondent for time magazine.
