Florence Maebell (Buckner) Cox, 93, was born July 27, 1923 at Cheek to the late Mr. Addison Edward "A.E." "Buck" Buckner and Mrs. Grace (Simmons) Buckner. She quietly passed from this life on Sunday afternoon, January 8, 2017 at her daughter Vickie's residence in Springer.

Florence was raised at Cheek attending school at Bunker Hill where she enjoyed playing softball. After her schooling, she remained home, helping raise her siblings. Florence married Mr. Leon Andrew Cox on Dec. 23, 1946 at Gainesville, TX. They resided initially at Lone Grove before moving to California following work. They lived most of their life's together within the Lone Grove and Springer area.

Florence always chose to work at home, being a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed having a garden when she was young and always cherished family get together s. Florence was of the baptist faith and most regularly attended church at Milo Baptist when she was able.

Her husband Leon preceded her in death on July 29, 1999. Also preceding her in death are her Parents; infant brother, Harlem; brother, Bill Buckner; son in law, Arlen Williams and granddaughter, Bobbie Cox.

Survivors include her children, Bill Cox of Mannsville, Arvin Cox and wife Phyllis of Sulphur, Vickie Slawson of Springer, Dennis Cox of Sulphur and Judy Williams of Tulsa; siblings, Christine Atwood of Springer, Ken Buckner and wife Gladys of Blair and Darrell Buckner and wife Elizabeth of Roff; 14 grandchildren, Juanda, Randy, Theresa, Adam, Heather, Megan, Kevin, Danny, Philip, Erica, John, William, James and Amanda; 20 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wed. January 11, 2017 at the Lone Grove Cemetery with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating.
