Mr. Callaway was born August 26, 1922 in Arley, Missouri. Cecil graduated from Holt High School and then farmed until he started working at Ford where he later retired from. He continued farming up into his early 80's. He loved gardening, woodworking, planting flowers, traveling, and his dog, Big Louie. Cecil dedicated his life to serving God at Elmira Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Maggie Callaway, wife Opal Lee (Marley) Callaway, brothers; Paul, Herbert, Thomas, Wesley, and Robert, sisters; Ethel, Gladys, Hazel, Mary, and Wilma, along with many nieces and nephews.
Cecil is survived by his children; Delbert (Diane) Callaway, Dorothy (Bill) Carter, and Beverly McClure; grandchildren Deana (Brian) Dobson, Courtney (Loren) Zirjacks, Jolene (Frank) Egelhoff, Paul (Joy) Callaway, Floyd (Carrie) McClure, and Melissa (Troy) Stephenson, 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Elmira Baptist Church, the Elmira cemetery, or Excelsior Springs Hospital Hospice.
