Max Alva Daniel, Jr. (86) passed away peacefully on January 6, 2016. A funeral service in his honor will be held for family and friends at The Daniel Family Cemetery, located in the 6700 block of Airline Road in Dallas on Thursday, January 12 at 2:00 p.m. Max, a member of one of Dallas' earliest pioneer families which settled in University Park in 1849, was born September 23, 1930 in Dallas. He attended Highland Park High School and, after serving in the United States Air Force, earned a BBA from SMU. Max was an avid outdoorsman and loved being with his friends. He is well known for organizing get-togethers, hunting and fishing extravaganzas, and weekly luncheons with his HP friends. Max was a member of the Highland Hunting and Fishing Club and Dallas Country Club. He and his brother Bill owned and operated Daniel Cleaners, across from SMU, as well other family real estate holdings. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife June; his parents, Max Sr. and Louise McGraw; his brother, Bill; and his second wife, Joan. He is survived by his three children and six grandchildren: Max III and his wife Patricia of Dallas; their children, Katie and her husband William French, Ann Marie, and Max IV of Dallas; his daughter, Mary Lou Charron and her husband Steve of Austin; their two children, Daniel and Christopher of Austin; and his son Mark of Austin.
