During her childhood and adolescent years, she was an active member of the Portland Avenue Free Methodist Church in Abilene. Rebecca gave her life to the Lord through baptism at the age of 15. Even through her illness, she continued to remain faithful by listening to Christian programming on KAVX radio, reading daily devotionals and watching ministry programs on television.

Rebecca attended school in Abilene, Texas and graduated from Cooper High School in 1972. She attended Cisco Junior College from 1972 to 1974 graduating with an Associate of Arts Degree in Office Occupations. She met her future husband, Steve Beck, while there.

Rebecca and Steve were married in Abilene, Texas on December 28, 1974. They moved to Nacogdoches in January 1975 while Steve attended Stephen F Austin State University. They have called Nacogdoches their home for over 40 years.

During their marriage, Rebecca and Steve welcomed two daughters, Christi in 1981 and Allison in 1984. Rebecca was a devoted, loving and caring wife and mother who was supportive of her husband and daughters.

Rebecca was employed for almost 33 years with the state of Texas working mostly as an administrative assistant. She retired from the Texas Department of State Health Services in 2007.

Rebecca learned to sew at an early age from her mother and in home economics classes. She had a talent for making clothes for herself and her daughters as well as cross-stitch projects and her most recent passion- quilts. She was an active member of the Nacogdoches Quilters Guild. She created lovely, cherished quilts for her children, grandchildren and family members and won ribbons for her quilts at local quilt shows.
