Son of Elijah L. Kernes and Ida Kyle Gladden.

Married 1st. Maude McBee 5 Aug 1911 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Unknown what happened to this marriage as by 1920, George was married to Hazel and had children.

Married 2nd Hazel Stevenson, likely in Nebraska.7 children were born to this marriage; Edith, William, Helen, Jesse, Albena, Robert and Donald.

Early years he did odd jobs, then drove a delivery truck, tried his hand at farming, he was a bricklayer and last I saw, he was a Dragline operator.

In May 1941, George was found unconscious in the street. He apparently suffered from heat exhaustion. Local authorities revived him and took him home.

George took a nasty fall down a flight of stairs at a local bar on 2 Oct 1948, he was listed as critical and died of his injuries 18 Oct 1948. Those same stairs apparently killed someone else too and seriously injured another. Finally in Jan 1949, a city inspector was sent to investigate.
