George is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law: Daniel and Sharon Schaffer, Piqua, OH, Randy and Jo Schaffer, FL, Dale and Linda Schaffer, Urbana, OH and Jeff Schaffer, Fl; Six daughters and sons-in-law: Virginia Akers, FL, Sandy, FL, Barbara and Bob East, Fl, Susie, Fl and Betty and Tony Lee, Piqua, OH. Seventeen grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Diane Smith and two brothers.
George worked in construction and was a heavy equipment operator for many years. He was an avid NASCAR fan building several race cars in his early years and raced them for many years.
Funeral services will be held Thursday January 12, 2017 at 12 Noon at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME, Piqua, Ohio with his son George Daniel Schaffer officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 A.M.-12 Noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Beechwood Cemetery, Lockington, Ohio.
