Mrs. Bud Pate, 81, and resident of Shackelford County, for fifty-four years, died at her home here Monday Morning of Pneumonia after a serious illness since December 13. She and Mr. Pate would have observed their sixty=fifth wedding anniversary Abril 4 this year had she lived.

Mrs. Pate was born in Columbia County, Arkansas, on March 2, 1856. She was married to Bud Pate in 1872 and they came here in 1883. There were very few settlers in this county then and the residents underwent many hardships unknown to modern life. She had been a member of the Baptist Church for years and had worked faithfully in the denomination since she joined.

Services were held in the home and burial was in the Albany Cemetery.
