Daniel Contreras was born on August 5, 1936 in Los Angeles, California to Ray and Josephine Contreras. He passed away on December 17, 2016 in Atwater, California at the age of 80.
Daniel served in the United States Navy and United States Air Force, he was very proud of his service. He was member of the American Legion Post 88 in Turlock, California.
Dan enjoyed watching some sports like the 49ers, SF Giants or boxing. He was kind of an entrepreneur of sorts, always looking and trying to create the next big invention. He also enjoyed his daily dose of the Modesto Bee paper.
He loved helping others and looking out for their best interest. Also encouraging others to join the Carpentry Union 713, since he himself was a Carpenter for thirty years and found much enjoyment from it. Dan will be missed by all who knew him.
Daniel is survived by his children, Gina McCormick (Andy), Kevin Contreras, Ann Henderson, and Sidney Smith; one sister, Estella Vierra; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Sue Contreras, his parents, son, Kyle Contreras, and daughter, Cindy Smith.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 9-11 am with Funeral Services following at 11 am at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel, 1290 Winton Way, Atwater.
Burial will follow at 2 pm at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella.
