Scott, 50, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 29, 2016 in Lansing. Scott was the son of James Carl Boyd and Betty (Hanel) Gifford and had been a Lansing area resident for over 15 years.

He was a 1984 Graduate of Swartz Creek High School and a 1989 Graduate of Central Michigan University where he earned his Bachelor of Applied Arts.

He currently was employed as Office Manager at Metronet Telecom in Holt. He enjoyed attending, with his wife, the Renaissance Festival in Holly attired in full vintage costume. He also loved studying and reciting History.

Surviving are: his wife of 13 years, Leslie Anne (Sutherland) Gifford; half-brothers and half-sisters; James (Deborah) Oates of Arlington Heights, IL, Christine Oates of Fenton, Mary Ann Oates Savage of Fenton, James Gifford, Michael Gifford and Kelly Rathburn; numerous nieces and nephews and his two furry children Max and Sophie.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Gifford.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Tom Vanderbilt of Messiah Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Lansing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the Volunteers of America or the Lansing City Rescue Mission.
