Charles "Denny" Denver Day
August 29, 1925 ~ January 6, 2017 (age 91) Charles Denny Day, 91 of Cawood passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 at the Harlan ARH.

Denny was born Aug. 29, 1925 at Cawood, KY where he had resided his entire life. He was a retired businessman in the Cawood area. He was a Veteran of United States Army and served his country during World War II, a member of the VFW, D.A.V., American Legion, Am Vets, Harlan Honor Guard and a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve Day and Mary Ledford Day Smiddy; step father, Ruben Smiddy; 4 brothers, Ralph, Paul, Howard, and Bobby Day; 4 sisters, Grace Lambert, Manis Roe, Eva Day, and Bessie Bryant.

He leaves to mourn his passing, many nieces and nephews; a very special neighbor and caregiver who he loved like a son, David (Shelia) Bruce; other friends are Otis Doan, Buck Burkhart, Hal Haynes, Joe Tom Ledford, Willie Johnson, Johnny Skidmore, and Duper Jackson.

In his own written words “I leave you with this thought; you can always tell where a man’s heart is by the company he keeps”

Visitation will be Tuesday (Jan. 10) from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday (Jan. 11) in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Daniel officiating.

Burial will follow in the Day-Jackson Cemetery at Cranks with Military Rites being observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be the members of the Harlan Honor Guard. Anderson Law & Jones FH in charger of arrangements.
