OBITUARY:
Margaret P. Girton (Peggy) passed away at Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital on March 26, 2014. She was born to Owen and Ethel Champie in Yakima, WA on April 17, 1930.

Peggy was an active member of the Tri-Cities community for 60 years.

Through her generosity, stubbornness, and protective nature everyone that came to know her and love her knew that she would stand behind them no matter what the situation and god help those that crossed the ones she loved. She showed this by being a key leader for her children's 4H group, the Colt's and Fillies. She was an active member of the Franklin County Saddle Club and rode with the Franklin County Saddle Club Posse.

She spent several years working with the Tri-Cities Water Follies, sewing the canvas covers for the buoys for the events.

She spent many years actively involved in the Benton-Franklin Rodeo even opening her home to traveling cowboys that couldn't afford a hotel as they traveled from one rodeo to another.

During this time she also rode with the Benton Franklin Sheriff Posse.

For many years Peggy also owned and operated the Girton Bail Bond business.

In her later years she was an active member of the Columbia Basin Shrine Club and an avid Tri-City Americans hockey fan.

She also spent countless hours sewing quilts for family members and mending everything from clothes to stuffed animals. She spent many years giving herself to the community and during that time a community formed around her. As a community we grieve her loss and celebrate her life.

Peggy is preceded in her death by her father and mother Owen and Ethel Champie and her sister Donna Kinkade.

She is survived by her children: Karen (Len) Lewis, Pasco, WA; Linda (Tom) Perkins, Richland, WA; David Rake (Touch Long), Kent, WA. Her siblings Alan Champie and Cherrie Champie (Kat Slinde). Her grandchildren Kristi (Garry) Hagins, Lynn Perkins and Christopher Perkins. Her three great grandchildren Kaelee, Breena, and Rylee.

We know that she has gone to a much better place where she will know no hurt or sorrow, only peace and love.

Her memorial service with be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at the Columbia Basin Shrine Club (1811 W. Sylvester St, Pasco, WA) at 11:00 A.M.
