Joan P. Pierce, aged 75 years of Bridgeton and formerly of Estell Manor, passed away late Wednesday evening January 4, 2017 in Cumberland Manor.
Born in Woolwich Twp., she was the daughter of Mildred (nee Graham) Catling and the late Walter Catling Jr. and the wife of the late William Pierce.
Joan was formerly employed years ago as a waitress in Ponzio’s Diner, and in 1965 she and her late husband William managed Briardale Thoroughbred Horse Farm also called the Imbesi Farm in Estell Manor. She loved working with the horses and continued until her health began to fail in 2008. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casinos, but she truly loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two sons, Alan M. Pierce and his wife Tina of Fairton, and Andrew Pierce and his wife Chandra of Colorado; her mother, Mildred Catling of North Carolina; one brother, Robert Spence Jr. and his wife Ellie of Pennsville; four grandchildren, Michael Pierce, Timothy Pierce, Jeremy Pierce, Lexa Pierce; and two great grandchildren, Deagan Pierce and Shane Pierce. She was predeceased besides her husband and father, by a stepfather, Robert Spence Sr.; brothers, Stephen Spence, Larry Catling, and a sister and brother in law, Maude Ritterson and her husband George.
Family and friends are invited to attend graveside funeral services on Thursday January 12, 2017 in Fordville Memorial Park, Fairfield Twp. at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Jamie Bagley will officiate. Burial will follow the services.
