Floyd Burton was married to Joan Burton of South Bend (deceased) and is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Steven) Steffens of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sons, David (Mary) Burton of Avon, Charles Burton of Indianapolis, and Andrew Burton of Providence, Rhode Island; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A graduate of South Bend Central High School (1947) and Purdue University (1951), Floyd served in the United States Marines from 1951-1953 and then became a partner in the family business, Burton's Department Store, until 1960. He then worked for CNA Insurance until 1978 when he became President of Burton-Seltzer & Associates Insurance Agency. After retiring, he and Joan re-located to South Bend in 2001. He then moved to Avon in 2011. Floyd was active in many fraternal organizations, was a Kentucky Colonel, and member of the American Legion. He had a love for his dogs and photography. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Zion United Church of Christ in South Bend, and join us for a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Bubb Funeral Chapel is assisting with the arrangements.
