Evanston, Ill. -- AP -- Georgene Faulkner, 85, known as the "Chicago story lady," died Saturday in an Evanston hospital. She had been living in a nursing home.
Until 1952, Miss Faulkner headed the kindergarten department at the Faulkner school founded by her Sister Elizabeth on Chicago's south side.
She was credited with making the first children's phonograph records and being the first to tell children's stories over the radio. From 1911 to 1919 she as the children's editor of the Chicago Tribune.
