He was born December 2, 1945 in Alexandria, MN to Peter and Myrtle (Thoennes) Wagner. He grew up in Brandon and graduated from Brandon High School. Fran was united in marriage to Bernadette "Detsie" Stich on August 5, 1967 at Sacred Heart Church in Urbank. He joined the National Guard and was enlisted for six years. He was also self-employed as an owner of Wagner Trucking with his brother, Ken. Later in life, Fran continued to work with his daughters. Fran had a mind for business.
Fran enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Family was the number one important thing to him. He also enjoyed attending auction sales, using the computer, coffee time and rolling dice with his friends. In his earlier years, Fran enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed vacationing with his family. He would pray every day. Fran had a great inner faith and strength – something that served him well after his accident in 1999. Fran was instrumental in getting the landscaping done and maintaining it at the Lady of the Hills shrine. He was a great role model and father figure to many.
Fran is survived by his wife, Bernadette "Detsie" Wagner of Brandon; his two daughters: Jackie (Ronald) Prahl of Hoffman and Stephanie (Shawn) Wagner of Evansville; three grandchildren: Taylor, Parker and Dylan; two brothers: Norbert (Mary Ann) Wagner of Inver Grove Heights and Ken (Audrey) Wagner of Brandon; a sister: Sharon Funk of Brandon and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Ben Stich, Sr.
