Journal Star, Peoria, Illinois, Saturday, March 7, 1987, Page 29, Col. 2: Toulon---Corliss S. Ingels, 82, died at 1:55 a.m. Friday at his residence, 219 W. Thomas St.

Born Nov. 18, 1904, in Lafayette to Irvin and Cora Garner Ingels, he married Alberta Bliss Taylor in 1928 in Oswego. She died in 1932. Surviving from this marriage are a son, Corliss Irvin "Jack" of Lafayette; and a daughter, Rosella Schumacher of LaRose.

He married Ethel Taylor Oct. 28, 1934, in Lafayette. She survives, along with their son, Roger W. of Galva; two daughters, Susan Landrus of Georgetown, Tenn., and Doris Rathbun of Colfax. Also surviving are a sister, Mary Holt of Riverside; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters, four brothers and one grandson.

He owned and operated the Henry Nurseries in Henry from 1934 to 1955. He moved to Toulon in 1956, whee he owned and operated the Lafayette Home Nursery, until his recent retirement.

He served in both and Army and the Navy. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 119 in Henry, a charter member of the International Plant Propagators Society, and a member of the American Association of Nurserymen, the Nut Growers Society and the Illinois Historical Society. In 1981, he was named king of the Lafayette Reunion Days.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Kidd Funeral Home in Toulon. The Rev. Arthur Ritter will officiate. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with services by the Henry Masonic Lodge at 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in Lafayette Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Toulon Congregational Church or the American Cancer Society.
