Edna M. Arnott (née Scalf) passed away after a short illness on November 22, 2016 in St. Cloud, Florida at the age of 93. Edna is survived by 1 son and 2 daughters; 9 grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; other numerous dear family. She is preceded in death by parents, Pryce Marcum and Emily Marcum (née Cornett); siblings Laura Adams, Carl Marcum, Raleigh Marcum, Mary Jane Davis, Dudley Marcum, Patricia Minks, J. B. Marcum, and Ralph Marcum.

Edna was born on May 10, 1923 in Blackie, Kentucky to Pryce and Emily Marcum (née Cornett). She graduated from the University of Kentucky with an associate’s degree in social work and enjoyed her continued studies as a Donavan Scholar. She married William Scalf in 1940 in Hazard, Kentucky and they had three children, Carlow, Sandy, and Sherry. She was a member of Vicco Presbyterian Church in Vicco, Kentucky.

Over the years, Edna lived in Kentucky, Michigan, and Florida where she was always an active church and community member, as well as, grandmother. While in Michigan, she worked at The Townhouse in Detroit and was married to Kenneth Arnott of St. Claire Shores. She attended the First Baptist Church of St. Claire Shores. After moving to Lexington, Kentucky, Edna began working for the Fayette County Health Department and Kentucky Educational Television. She was a founding member of the Alton Baptist Church, Alton, Kentucky.

While recently residing in Florida, Edna was an active and dedicated member of the Christian Life Church, Kissimmee, where she enjoyed fellowship and community outreach. Edna enjoyed singing and often performed over the years with her local church choir. She was a dedicated and passionate individual who loved caring for children and spending time with family and friends.

The family would like to thank the members of Christian Life Church for their care and dedication. Edna will be remembered on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the church by family and friends. A celebration of Edna’s life will be held in Lexington, Kentucky, at The Lexington Cemetery in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Memory of Edna M.
