Rev Tilly Howe died in Fryeburg, Oxford County, Maine. The newspaper clipping reported that he was buried in Judge Frye Burying ground. Unable to find this place so I put him in this cemetery.

Tilly was the son of Eliakim Howe Sr. and Rebecca howe. He married a pregnant woman, Marcy Stickney, 20 Mar 1787. The church forced him to get a divorced. He reluctantly did as the church requested and the divorced was finalized in New Hampshire in 1789. He never remarried. Marcy remarried David Wheeler Jones 20 Oct 1801 in New Hampshire. Nothing is known about the unborn child that should have been born in late 1787.Tilly was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts. He moved with his family to Henniker when he was 13. Tilly was the first from Henniker to go to college at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH and became a minister. He married Marcy Stickney on Mar 20, 1787. When the church found out that she was with child by another man before they got married, the church pressured Tilly to get a divorced. It was said that with tears in his eyes, he signed the divorce papers in 1789. After that Tilly never remarried. Marcy later married David Wheeler Jones in 1801.

Tilly went on to preach at several different locations in New Hampshire and Maine. He moved to Fryeburg, Maine where he died in 1830. He was buried in Judge Frye burying grounds, Fryeburg, Maine. Judge Frye burying grounds may be the same at Fryeburg Village Cemetery, but that is just a guess. That is why I listed Tilly grave site location as unknown.
