Egbert Bickford who lived in Eaton county for the past half century died Wednesday at his home in Brookfield. He made friends and kept them, and in speaking of Mr. Bickford his old neighbor, A.M. Williams, paid him the following flattering tribute; " I do not know of his having an enemy in the world."
Mr. Bickford was born in New York December 20, 1828, of revolutionary ancestry, his father serving in the memorable campaigns under Washington. He came to Eaton County in 1854 locating in Benton Township on the farm now owned by Amos Fox of this city. Thirty-five years ago he bought a farm in Brookfield where he died. In 1856 Mr. Bickford was married to Susan Loehr who with two children, Mrs. Nora Cook of Bay City and Mrs. Charles Johnson of Brookfield survive him. Mr. Bickford was a devoted Universalist. The funeral services are in progress this afternoon at the Fox church with Elder Bunker in charge. Burial at the Perry cemetery.
