Macon, GA- Jimmy Arthur Clay, 72, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2017. Memorial services and a celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 8th, at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono with the Rev. Wayne Anthony and Dr. Brad Marchman officiating. Burial will be private in Georgia Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville. The family will meet friends from 2:00 p.m. to service time on Sunday at the funeral home. While flowers are accepted, memorial contributions may be made to the Children' s Hospital – Navicent Health, 777 Hemlock Street, Macon 31201 in honor of his three granddaughters.
Mr. Clay, son of the late Sarah Evelyn and John Henry Clay, Sr., was a lifelong resident of Macon. He was a 1963 graduate of Willingham High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War with Military Police. Mr. Clay was a service technician with Atlanta Gas Light Company retiring after thirty-five years. He was formerly a Booster Club President at Windsor Academy and was an avid Atlanta Falcons fan. He had coached Midget Football at Central City Park and Little League Bloomfield Baseball. Mr. Clay attended Liberty United Methodist Church. He was the brother of the late John Henry Clay, Jr. and Ellen Ennis. Nearest his heart was his love for his family and being a "doting" granddaddy known as "Pops," loved spending time with his granddaughters.
