Julia R. Mitchell, 85, of Lumberton, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017. She was born September 5, 1931 in Camp Ruby, Texas. She attended school in the Livingston Independent School District and graduated from Woodville High School. She married the love of her life, Oliver Bailey Mitchell, Sr. in Kountze, Texas on June 23, 1948. She worked in the office of the High School for the Lumberton Independent School District for 18 years. Her favorite hobby was reading. She was an active member of Crestwood Baptist Church, where she taught class for over 30 years in the Faith Ladies Sunday School Class. It is with great sorrow we announce that our Mother has gone to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We thank God that He chose her to be our Mother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver B. Mitchell, Sr.; father, Alfred Weeks; mother, Inez Weeks; and brother, Rayburn Weeks, Sr.

She is survived by her loving children, Cynthia Lee and husband, Bill of Colorado Springs, CO, Teresa Orr and husband, Darrell of Lumberton, Buster Mitchell and wife, Connie of Lumberton, and Joe Mitchell and wife, Kathy of Lumberton; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild, and one on the way.

The family will receive friends at Crestwood Baptist Church from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday January 9, 2017. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Mark Rotramel. Interment will follow at R. S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery in Silsbee.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jody Mitchell, Ryan Verde, Scott Mitchell, Trey Mitchell, Josh Mitchell, Jordan Mitchell, Shawn Gallet, and Tony Myers. Honorary pallbearers are Dyllan Voorhies, Joe Mitchell, III, Stacey G. Price, James C. Price, Brandon Myers, Ryan Verde, Jr., Nolan Mitchell, and Matthew Myers.
