Mr. Dupont owned Dupont Jewelers in Rayville from 1952-2000. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was wounded after the Battle of the Bulge and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Rayville. In 1954, he helped form the Rayville Boys Baseball League that is now the Rayville Dixie Youth Baseball Program. He served as Secretary Treasurer for ~30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Blanche Dupont of Simmesport; one brother, Lee Dupont and wife Marie of New Orleans; and one sister, Corinne Chenevert and husband Wilbert.
He was survived by his wife, Carolyn Sellers Dupont of Rayville; four sons, John Dupont and wife Teri of Lafayette, Paul Dupont of Alexandria, James Dupont and wife Patti, and Stephen Dupont and wife Kim, all of Rayville; two brothers, Clayton Dupont and wife Joyce of Fort Worth, TX, and Irby Dupont and wife Betty of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Florence Couvillion of Simmesport and Betty Stevenson and husband Richard "Dickie" of Baton Rouge; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
