Catherine A. Hodges passed away peacefully Saturday evening surrounded by loved ones. Affectionately known as Kathleen, Kay, Nana or The Queen Mum, she loved bright colors, jewelry and flowers and was dedicated to her family, friends and church community.
Kay was born in Los Angeles, CA, graduated from High School and earned an AA in Business where she excelled at organizing and running an efficient office. She spent her early career at Chevron until devoting herself to raising her 3 daughters.
Kay married the love of her life, William (Bill) J. Hodges in 1956 and they were inseparable for 56 years until he passed away in August 2012. She returned to the workforce, serving the last 15 years of her career as Office Manager for AHK Sheet Metal in Sunnyvale, working beside Bill and his business partners. In retirement she and Bill enjoyed strolling through the Villages Retirement Community in San Jose, watching deer, wild turkeys and grandchildren playing on the hill in front of their deck.
Kay is survived by her loving daughters and son-in-laws Mary Ann and David Kidd, Jean and Alan Abeles, and Eileen and Vince Bradley. She was a beloved Nana to 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and even a great, great grandchild.
Family and friends are invited to a Viewing on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Christopher Church, 1576 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 P.M. and a reception immediately following the Mass. Burial Service will be held Monday, June 20, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 22555 Cristo Rey Drive, Los Altos. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Christopher Church.
