Claude Wilbur Stone, 87, of Lake Oswego, Oregon, passed in his home, on December 31, 2016.

Claude was born in Webster, Wisconsin to Ina Clapsaddle and John Stone on August 9, 1929. He married Thelma Sardinha on June 24th, 1950 in Maui Hawaii.

He received his Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Omaha, Nebraska while simultaneously managing his Air Force career and raising his family. Claude enlisted into the Air Force in 1946, serving as an enlisted member until 1953 when he received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was a veteran of both the Korean War and the Cold War serving the bulk of his Air Force service assigned to Strategic Air Command. Where he achieved the rank of Major. After Claude’s retirement from the Air Force he worked as a regional representative for Industrial Nucleonics, Accuray, and as an insurance agent for State Farm.

Claude was a devout family man, generous in his love for his wife and family he sought tirelessly to provide for their happiness and security. As his children grew and approached driving age Claude would be found in the garage meticulously rebuilding seasoned Ford cars for his children’s use. Forever practical and cautious these vehicles always came equipped with six cylinders and manual transmissions. Claude was generous with his time spending hours with his grandchildren as they explored together the young science of computers and the infancy of the internet.

Claude is preceded in death by his sister Oma Clark, brothers Charles and Clarence Stone, his daughter Wanda Stone and granddaughter Heather Videtich.

Claude is survived by his wife of 66 years Thelma Stone; his daughter Jennifer Hawkins, her husband Tim, daughter Jeannette Stone, his son Larry Stone, with his wife Robin, daughter Jacqueline Clark , her husband Robert and by his sister Mary Loback of Wheeler, Wisconsin. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 12th, 2017 at:
Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Parish, 650 A Avenue, Lake Oswego, Oregon 97034.

Internment Ceremony will be held 1:30 PM, Thursday, January 12th, 2017 at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd, Portland, OR 97086-6937
