John D. Reeder, 72, of Welliver Road, Danville, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 5, 2017, surrounded by his family at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born Sept. 4, 1944, in Danville, the son of the late John S. and Ethel Ream Reeder.

John was a devoted husband to Sharon M. Wintersteen Reeder for 52 years. They were married June 27, 1964.

He graduated from Danville High School in 1962.

John served his country in the United States Navy for four years.

He was employed as a Utility Plant Supervisor/Manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare at the Selinsgrove Center and at Danville State Hospital, from where he retired in January 1999.

John was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and several outdoor activities. He was well-known for his meticulous lawn and property always being fastidious with any outdoor chore. He loved his tractors and especially enjoyed restoring older tractors. John also had a train collection which he loved displaying for his grandchildren.

Many loving memories will be cherished by his family with whom he adored spending time.

John is survived by one son, Todd J. Reeder, and his wife, Tammy, of Riverside; and one daughter, Kristin R. Shultz, and her husband, Mark, of Bloomsburg. Also surviving are his three grandchildren: Jeffery Shultz and Becca and Chloe Reeder. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Alice Clark, of Elizabethton, Tenn.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will also be private at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville. Military rites will be accorded by the American Post Legion 40 Honor Guard.
