John Arthur Boswell, of Washington, DC passed away on April 26, 2016 at the age of 65. Johnny was a 1968 graduate of Loudoun Valley High School and a graduate of VCU, Richmond, VA. He loved to travel especially to his favorite places the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand where he adopted a baby elephant. Johnny was also an artist and enjoyed photography.

Johnny worked for 18 years as a bartender at “Off the Record” in Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington, DC. “Off the Record”, is known as one of the Top 10 bars in world, where he recently retired 2015.

He was voted 4 times as Best Bartender in the Washington Metropolitan area by the Washingtonian Magazine.
He is survived by his father John A. Boswell of Hamilton, VA; two brothers Joseph Andrew Boswell of Havre De Grace, MD; Jeffery Alan Boswell, Sr. (Brenda) of Unionville, VA; one nephew Jeffrey Alan Boswell, Jr. of Purcellville, VA; best friends Ali Abedi Khaledi of Falls Church, VA; Anne McCarthy of Potomac, MD; and his faithful and beloved companion, his dog “Hey You”. He was predeceased by his mother Evelyn A. Boswell.

A celebration of Johnny’s life and his father John Andrew Boswell who recently passed will take place at at Hall Funeral Home on June 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
