Sergeant, 423rd Bomb Squadron, 306th Bomb Group, World War II.

Ball turret gunner and the sole casualty aboard B-17F Flying Fortress #42-29900 "Unbearable II" when struck by anti aircraft artillery, and as the bomber faltered, was attacked and shot down by Bf-110-G fighter and crashed at Diepholz, Germany.

The remaining nine crew members bailed out and were captured and taken as POWs.
