Johnnie Daniels Preston, 92, of the Broadway Community, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at her home. Johnnie, the daughter of Lon and Blanche Daniels, was born October 17, 1924, in Delta County.
She married James Timothy Preston December 7, 1945, building 69 years of family and memories with Jamie, who preceded her in death in 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Leo Boyd, Fay Daniels, Sybil Oats, Ruth Kinnamon, and her brothers Joe and Travis Daniels.
Survivors include her three children, Jerry Preston and wife Cecilia, Pat Gilbert and husband Tom, and Jimmy Preston and wife Alta all of Paris; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kelly and Holland Harper and children Preston, Elizabeth, Abigail and Charlotte, Andy and Elisha Preston and children Marlee and Carson, Norman and Seanda Gilbert and boys Bentley, Keyton, and Logan, Lori and Kevin White and sons K.C. and Jerad, and Jennifer and Sergio Gonzales and children Sergio, Mersades, Noah, and Tea . Also surviving is one brother J.D. Daniels and host of other family and friends.
Johnnie Preston leaves a legacy as a loving mother, an encouraging aunt and a caring neighbor who loved life, loved working in her yard and kept her flowers blooming for every season. She was a member of the Midway Christian Church where her wittiness and encouragement will be deeply missed.
Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Brad Miller & Mickey Oats officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Creek Cemetery.
