Don Edward Griffith of Denton, TX passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the age of 88. He was born on April 24, 1923 in Martinsville, KY to Roy and Gladys (Sweet) Griffith. He married Dagny Martinson in 1948. He served as a minister in numerous churches starting in 1943 with the Salvation Army. He served through the years at churches in Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. He retired in 1999 as the minister of Greenwood Church of Christ. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10 am at the Denton Funeral Home Chapel; with a visitation starting one hour prior to service time. Jeff Fairchild and wife, Judy will officiate. Burial will take place at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Dagny; son, Marty and wife, Sherri Griffith of Lewisville, TX; daughter, Donna and husband, Gene Smith of Denton, TX; grandchildren, Christi Gluckman, Rachel Smith, Josiah Griffith and Elijah Griffith; and numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Johan Griffith; and brothers, Doyt, Bob and Dale Griffith. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home in Denton. Services are under the direction of Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
