Martha Aileen Quinn, 90, of Bremen, passed away peacefully at 11:15 am, Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Westminster Village in Muncie, Indiana.

She was fiercely loved by her family and will be missed as a mother, grandmother and friend. Martha was born on May 25, 1926, in Youngscreek, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Alonzo and Samantha (Rains) Hamblin. She grew up as one of eight siblings.

Following high school, she began a job at the Consolidated Paper Company in Monroe, Michigan where she met Edward S. Quinn. They fell in love and were married on July 2, 1949. While in Michigan, they had three daughters, Pat, Peggy and Pam. Martha and Ed moved their family to Bremen in 1961, when they had their last daughter Polly. Over the years, they made Bremen their home, raising their daughters, building into their community and attending St. Dominic Catholic Church.

Martha turned their house on East South Street into a constant gathering place for her growing family, welcoming nine grandchildren and countless friends with open arms. Martha was a competitor on the tennis court and in the kitchen. She had a trophy-winning backhand and her roasts were unrivaled. Martha had a genuine interest in people and nature. She had a quick wit, a great sense of humor and an unrivaled attention to detail. Her green thumb was well known, and even in her final days she tended lovingly to the plants that thrived on her windowsill.

She joins her parents, six of her siblings, her granddaughter Emily Elizabeth Hollstein and her beloved husband Ed in heaven.

Martha is survived by her sister Alice Lawson of Corbin, Kentucky, her four daughters, Patricia (Danny) Hochstetler of Goshen, Peggy (Steve Richardson) Quinn of Chicago, Pam (Ray) Hollstein of Morenci, MI and Polly (Bob) Ratchford of Muncie, IN. Her nine grandchildren will remember her always; Nicholas Bartle, Pamela (Josh Pittenger) Bartle, Katherine (Micah) Smith, Barbara (Samuel Smith) Hollstein, Mary Margaret (Mitchell Gallup) Hollstein, Edward Hollstein, Elizabeth (Doug) Kinney, Samantha (Mike) Sloan and Anna Marie Ratchford.
