"OBITUARY - Death of Ruel Alford Watson, of This City - R A Watson, eldest son of Jonathan Watson, Esq, died at his residence on West Main street in this city, yesterday afternoon about 5 o'clock. On the 3d of February, 1882, deceased sustained a paralytic stroke from the effects of which, however, he had in a measure recovered and he had been actively engaged in business as an oil broker for many months past. On the 3rd instant he fell in a fainting fit at his residence and Dr Dunn pronounced it a case of gastric fever. He, however, rallied and hopes of his recovery were entertained. His sudden death, therefore, was quite a shock to his relatives and friends. The deceased was born in 1849 and was consequently in his thirty-fourth year. He enjoyed good educational advantages and a good business training and his social qualities won him many friends. He leaves a wife who is a daughter of Mr John Johnson, of Union City, and one child, Margie, now in her fifth year. The deceased has an insurance policy on his life in the Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company of $10,000."
