Obituary for Leroy Raymond Powell
Leroy R. Powell, age 80, of Gulfport, passed away on January 3, 2017.
He was born and raised in Scottsville, Virginia and would often speak fondly of life along the James River. He was a 30 year veteran of the United States Air Force. He loved to fish and camp at Flint Creek, he loved his dogs, coaching girls' softball, and spending hours on his tractor cutting grass. He will be sadly missed by all.
Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his parents, Mollie Powell and William Warren Powell, Sr.; brothers, John and William Warren Powell, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Katy Powell of Gulfport; his daughter, Mary Katherine Powell Murphy (Ben) of Navarre, FL; stepsons, Troy Bass (Shannon) of Paris, KY, and Kerry Bass (Leigh) of Pascagoula; his sister, Edith Collins of Virginia; grandchildren, Jesse, Kellen, Bailey, and Brady Bass, and Reagan and Tate Murphy; and his family from his first marriage, Larry, Jerry, Cathy, Gary, and Brian Powell.
