Elizabeth Newby was born in Ogden, Henry County, Indiana on March 7, 1840 to Cyrus & Louisa (Baldwin) Newby.

Elizabeth married Thomas Jefferson Price August 12, 1864 in Iowa. To this marriage were born 6 daughters, Louisa Jane, Mary Ann (Price) Ewing, Carthage, Indiana, Mattie (Price) Brookhart, Arbela, Mo., Emma (Price) Slininger - Eckelbery, Albany, Illinois, Josephine "Josie" (Price) Tice, Carthage, Indiana, and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Price) Leaverton, Milton, Iowa.

Elizabeth had 9 siblings, Minerva A Wilson (1838-), Isaiah J (1842-1863), William (1843-), Milton (1845-1918), Cornelius (1846-1866), Louisa Jane Price (1850-1923), Cyrus Albert (1852-1856), Joel H (1854-), and Margaret E Johnson 1859-1926).

After Elizabeth's death, Mary & Josie were sent to Indiana and were raised by James & Lucinda (Price) Downey in Rush County, Indiana. Lucinda was a cousin of Thomas J Price, her father John Price is a brother to Thomas' father Elisha G Price.

Lizzie was raised by Stephen Wesley & Louisa Jane (Newby) Price. Louisa Jane was a sister to Lizzie's mother, Elizabeth (Newby) Price and Stephen Wesley Price was a nephew of Lizzie's father, Thomas Jefferson Price.

The Newby family migrated from Henry County, Indiana and settled in Van Buren County, Iowa. Minerva married Michael C Wilson and stayed in Henry County, Indiana, they are buried at Greensboro, Indiana. Milton, Joel, and Margaret settled in Jasper County, Missouri. Milton married Nancy Hastings, they are buried at Twin Grove cemetery. Margaret married George Johnson and also are buried at Twin Grove cemetery. At some point after Louisa (Baldwin) Newby died, her husband Cyrus moved to Jasper County, Missouri and lived with their daughter, Margaret Johnson. Cyrus is also buried at Twin Grove cemetery.
