W. E. Jefferies of Chaffee Passes Away

Chaffee, March 13.—Willie E. Jefferies, 61 years old, Frisco Railroad employe 37 years, died at 6 a.m. today in a hospital in Cape Girardeau. His body was removed to the Bisplinghoff Funeral Home here.
Mr. Jefferies was born June 18, 1891, in Littleville, Ala., son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jefferies. He moved to Missouri in 1913 and Aug. 30 that same year became an employe of the Frisco, working as a brakeman.
On May 25, 1914, he married Miss Cynthia M. Crittendon of Sheffield, Ala. Mr. Jefferies was promoted to conductor on Oct. 7, 1928, and was retired June 7, 1950.
Surviving him are his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Elmer A. Cannon of St. Louis and Mrs. B. O. Green of Ann Arbor and three grandchildren. A son died in infancy.
Mr. Jefferies also leaves his father, two brothers, Leslie Jefferies and Arthur Jefferies and two sisters, Mrs. Ella E. King and Mrs. C. W. Mitchell, all of Tuscumbia, Ala.; one other brother Lt.(jg) George Jefferies, now serving in the Navy, and another sister, Mrs. Pearl Pannell of Sheffield, Ala.
