Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 1, 1954:

Harry Lester, son of Ben and Ida Base was born on November 19, 1928 in McPherson County, Kans. and passed away on Nov. 22, 1953, in Aurora, Eastern district of Denver, Colo. He was struck and instantly killed by a high speeding car as he was attempting to cross the highway a-foot.
He reached the age of 25 years and 2 days. He received his education and grew to manhood in this community. Here he spent most of his life, working as a hired hand in different places. For the last two years he has been employed in the state of Colorado working in a fiber factory most of the time.
In the revivals of 1943 he felt his lost condition and had a clear experience of conversion and was baptized on Nov. 10. Harry had a quiet disposition but was very fond of friendship and those that were his friends were dear to him as brothers.
He was home on a short visit last May and when he left us he told us not to worry and said "I'll be seeing you." We could feel that life for him out there was lonely.
Harry seemed to have a happy epirit the last few days. Saturday was spent to himself. Late Saturday night he came to his room when his roommate invited him to bed, upon which he left the room again, presumably going for a cup of coffee just across the street. There he met his tragic death.
We commit him into the hands of a just and merciful Lord. He leaves to mourn his early and unexpected departure, his father and step-mother, 6 brothers, Cecil of Horton, Mo., Ralph of Galva, Gilmore, Eldon, Jonas, Paul, and one sister, Verbie, of the home; 4 uncles and 3 aunts, and a host of relatives and friends. His mother preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 1933.

The call was sudden, the shock severe,
And only to those who have lost can tell
What parting is without farewell.

Harry, thou hast left us lonely,
Sorrow fills our hearts today.
But beyond this vale of sorrow
Tears will all be wiped away.

The voice of this alarming scene
May every heart obey;
Nor be the heavenly warning vain
Which calls to watch and pray.
-The Family.

Funeral services were held at the Lonetree church on Nov. 24 with Minister FranK Haynes of Ithaca, Michigan, being the speaker. Burial was in adjoining cemetery.

We little thought that death was near,
